The Swedish Road Administration and the Swedish Rail Administration are replaced by the Swedish Transport Administration

Coordination becomes the guiding principle

Two government authorities are shut down in 2010, and all of their activities are transferred to a new authority in order to achieve synergies, particularly in terms of infrastructure. Diametrically different modes of transport such as road and rail are suddenly under the supervision of a single authority.

The new Swedish Transport Administration became responsible for the long-term planning of infrastructure for road, rail, sea and air transport, and for the construction and operation of state-owned roads and railways.
